If you require medication or additional supplements, the head pharmacist is very professional and accommodating. She will spend extra time assuring your needs are met and has an excellent bedside manner. She will treat every question thoughtfully. This was not always my experience when it came to the doctors. Many of the doctors exuded an air of authority and made me feel that it was wrong to question certain aspects of my care I felt unsure or uncomfortable with.
If you have thyroid issues, make sure you have them run a comprehensive panel, NOT just TSH. Do your own credible research and be your own advocate, even if you're met with resistance. A one size fits all approach does not work when it comes to individual bodies.
SSM St. Mary's Maternity came here for an appointment that was made a month ago the receptionist told me I called and canceled ( not true). I explained to her that i did not cancel and I planned everything around this date including my new Job. The receptionis has a very nonchalant attitude and will not honor the appointment. I came with my sister so we could make our appointments together while waiting i notice the unprofessional receptionist turn around and discuss it with the other lady soooooo unprofessional.I start a new job and I'm in training next week for the time they reschedule my appointment I can't miss... I should've read the review's before making an appointment.. I will not return here found another doctor while waiting on my sister.... HORRIBLE EMPLOYEES REPRESENTING THIS COMPANY.. they need exstended training customer service being the first course...
I have since switched to a smaller clinic where care is more personalized because that's what I needed for my pregnancy, both physically and emotionally.
This is a wonderful hospital with knowledgeable people and friendly staff. The only thing I’m NOT SATISFIED with is the meal service. It doesn’t matter what time of day or night it takes an hour or up to 2 1/2 hours for your meal. I got admitted and I’m pregnant and the meal took 2.5 hours to come after the nurse ordered it 2 times. They are very slow at answering the phone as well.
High risk clinic felt like a conveyer belt. Not entirely the hospital's fault since the patient to staff ratio is unbalanced. Unfortunately, this means care is not personalized. You will have excellent doctors, and not so great doctors, but you will not see the same doctor twice, and each will have very different ideas about how to best meet your care needs. This leads to numerous contradictions, and confusion. Be prepared to wait for your appointment an average of 3-5 hours each time.
My mom has been coming to St. Mary's over the years , but the service has declined. I have learned to read reviews on all places I attend and I read ALL the reviews and most of the complaints was about the ER . I also read where someone from the hospital would respond that they have forwarded the complaint to leadership and to email your complaint to some email. Well obviously they are not doing anything about it because the problem still exist. My mom was rushed there from her dialysis center for abnormal behavior. She arrived at 11:15 and I arrived from home at 11:30. They would not let me see her til 1:00 and when I did they said they ran test and she was good to go home. I insisted that she stay overnight for observation. We stayed back there in that room until 7:00 p.m is when they got her a room and that was with me asking and complaining every hour. They stick you in those rooms and close the curtain and forget all about you. I kept the curtain open so I could observe what was going on. They were back there chilling , laughing and having fun. It just seemed that most people were really unconcerned about what was going on. I felt a sense of racism going on, every time I asked to speak to someone they would talk down to me and have this I don't care attitude. I actually caught a nurse roll her eyes after walking away. There was a family in the next room that said they were feeling the same a little unconcerned for the African American patients. My mom's doctor is in the SSM network and they always send her there, but I will checking into alternative locations and will discuss with her doctor alternatives. I don't know why people go into the healthcare profession when they don't have the true passion to help and be truly concerned about ALL people. Oh, and by the way how dare some white people try to look down on black people . when we have invented, created, and cultivated MOST things that Americans enjoy today. It is also said that people get tired of black people pulling the race card, and we get tired of being treated like we don't count. If I was not vocal and assertive enough to keep asking we would've been back there even longer. I will say when she got to her room , her nurse was on point. It seems the major problem is with the ER. I'm giving it a one star for the ER, only because it would not let me post without picking a star , but I feel it deserves zero stars for the ER.
They sent me when I very sick so I went to Barnes and they told me a very different story. I was put on several medicine and got better. Staff was rude for E.R.
