was in the Kirkwood location today, and had a less than enjoyable experience. Upon my arrival I was asked what brought us in, and I mentioned that my daughter had not worn shoes yet aside from pediped/slipper like shoes, but she was showing signs of walking soon, and I wanted her to have something for outside during the summer. I was interested in Keens and mentioned that I almost ordered some online, but read that they were wide and ran small, so I thought I should have my daughter's foot measured and see if they were the best option for us.

The entire experience felt like a high pressure situation and it was very uncomfortable. Towards the end of our visit, she didn't ask whether we wanted the shoes, she just left them on my daughter's feet and said "these look like the best fit? i'll leave the box up at the desk for you." It was obvious she was anxious to get onto the next sale.

I love StrideRite shoes for children! My visit was very warm and welcoming. Though I did not make a purchase, the associate treated me with respect and offered to show me shows from the back i was interested in so I could hv a visual. Only downfall is google list a STRIDERITE is located in St.Louis Galleria Mall but Laurie's does not have the STRIDERITE trademark name in their name so it could be confusing.

The response from the sales associate was very abrupt. She said,"so you want me to measure her feet, find the shoes that fit and then you're going to go order them online?!" I was taken aback. That was not what I said I was planning on doing, and even it if was, for a company that prides itself on their service, this response is completely inappropriate not to mention an inaccurate assumption. I nearly walked out at that very moment, and I almost wish I had.

Instead, I calmly said that I was not sure Keens were the right shoe for us and I would like to explore other options as well, but that no, I could not guarantee that I would buy shoes that day. I think she realized how upset I was and conceded to let us try a couple of different pairs on. Throughout the whole process, my daughter was upset, and the sales associate was less than patient, demanding that I "hold onto her better" or "calm her down".

My next step is to return the shoes, based solely on principle. I love the shoes, but I refuse to be treated this way, and hope that this teaches our sales associate a lesson. I also hope that you take this comment into consideration when training sales associates in the future
